Patient & Family Support

Be a crucial part of the hospice team by providing support and respite for caregivers and families. Volunteers support patients and families in many ways, including visiting patients, providing caregiver respite, running errands, letter writing, or reading to patients. Opportunities are also available at our Inpatient Facility to serve patients and families during their stay.

Posy Express

The Posy Express is a flower delivery program that was implemented by Hospice Brazos Valley volunteers. This program is the hub around which many other volunteer interventions rotate. Every week of the year, with the exception of national holidays, volunteers arrange and deliver approximately 50-60 vases of fresh flowers to our hospice patients and their families,

as flowers are available.

Bereavement volunteers are specially trained to assist and follow-up with bereaved family members and friends of patients served. Special volunteer training programs are designed for individuals interested in assisting with bereavement programs.

Office Support

Office volunteers help in administrative or clerical capacities, preparing mail-outs, assisting with special projects, and participating where needed in matters not directly related to patient care. Other tasks include computer data entry, filing, and answering the phone.

Fundraising Events

Have fun decorating, greeting guests, or helping with event set up/clean up.  Our annual fundraising events require numerous volunteers to assist in coordination before, during, and after the event. Volunteers can also help publicize, decorate, and secure sponsorships and donations, and/or mail invitations.

Outreach and Education

Do you love talking to people? Are you passionate about educating the public about hospice and community health services?  You would be perfect to represent Hospice Brazos Valley at health fairs, senior expos, chamber events, or present to civic groups about hospice services.

Special training available.

Veterans Honored

Hospice Brazos Valley is grateful for the opportunity to show our community's appreciation to veteran patients for their sacrifice of time, talent, and treasure to ensure our country's safety. Veterans are presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and a pin that symbolizes the bond between Hospice and Veterans. If a patient desires, a veteran volunteer can be paired with them when available for support and to talk about shared experiences.
